AUDITIONS - 2024/25 Season

For Karlovsky & Company Dance’s 12th season, we are looking for experienced, advanced level contemporary modern dancers (all identities) who are versatile, athletic movers, and who enjoy the investigative creative process and somatically inspired movement experiences. Dancers should be proficient in modern dance movement languages, floorwork, contemporary partnering work via contact improvisation, and general improvisation skills.
We have one paid company position available for our 2024/25 season. We are always interested in meeting more dancers and offering additional opportunities to work with us for specific performance and education projects. Dancers must be 21+ years of age with previous performance experience. College degree or equivalent professional training is preferred.

The season includes performances and educational programs held in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Dancers will need to be available to begin rehearsals starting Sunday July 28, 2024.

If your schedule permits it, please attend company class with us prior to July 28 on Mondays, 6:30pm at the Grandel Theater.
Here’s what’s involved:

Contract begins July 28, 2024 – June 20, 2025. (Periodic breaks for holidays, special events, etc.)

Dancers receive a monthly salary based on an hourly rate ($10/hr) for all rehearsal hours, tech and performances (including mainstage concerts), festivals, site-specific community performances, and for participation in education programs.

Apprentice opportunities include stipends for performances.

Company Class and Rehearsals are held on Sundays 4pm-7:30 and Mondays 6:30pm – 9:30pm, (depending on the project, an additional day may be added to this schedule. Rehearsal hours will also be extended.)

Dancers receive full access to the company’s Summer Somatics Series - our workshop series of somatic movement - with opportunities to energize your training, deepen movement awareness, and develop skills for self-care.

Full access to master classes by our guest artists.

Opportunities to choreograph. Additional stipends are available for choreographic contributions for specific projects.

ABOUT KARLOVSKY & COMPANY DANCE:
Karlovsky & Company Dance is a St. Louis-based contemporary modern dance company dedicated to presenting the art of dance-theater with innovative choreography that illuminates the human experience. The company fosters collaborative relationships among musicians, visual artists, and choreographers reaching local, national, and international audiences through concert performances, dance for the camera, site-specific dance, and community and somatic/dance education programs for dancers, older adults, and children. Karlovsky & Company Dance is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in residence at the Grandel Theatre with support by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation.
Karlovsky & Company Dance was established as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in 2012 by its Founder and Artistic Director, Dawn Karlovsky. Prior, the company operated as Dawn Karlovsky & Dancers from 2004-2012. Since the inception of the company, the work of Karlovsky & Company Dance has been commissioned internationally with tours to France and South Africa, and nationally presenting in New York City, Minneapolis and Duluth MN, Tulsa OK, and San Francisco-Bay Area. Karlovsky & Company Dance aspires to connect with audiences through the art of dance, and to provide an experience for the viewer that evokes personal reflection. The concert work by Karlovsky & Company Dance is uniquely marked by the choreographic landscapes created through evening-length productions that involve collaboration and integration of contemporary dance-theater, live music, spoken word, and visual art. The choreographic vision of Karlovsky relies on deeply researched material to generate these cohesive thematic works that are visceral, poignant, and expressively stimulating.
